For our first new signing of 2017 we are pleased to welcome pianist and composer Will Butterworth to the Jellymould family. Will was born in Edinburgh, his father is a classical violinist and Will grew up playing classical music on the cello and improvising on the piano. In 1999 he began to play jazz professionally in Scotland, and in 2004 he moved to London.

Will has worked with many of Britain’s finest musicians, and has released two albums as leader but his new record “The Nightingale and the Rose” (a suite based on Oscar Wilde’s famous children’s story) will be his first for Jellymould. The album is full of beautiful melodies and rich and dark harmony retelling Wilde’s story of love and sacrifice. Butterworth uses these melodies as starting points for improvisation, and the result is intense, exhilarating and riveting music making. His quartet includes Seb Pipe – alto sax, Nick Pini – double bass and Pete Ibbetson – drums.

We are also please to announce a second album from Anglo/German group Paragon. They will be recording their new album entitled Old Dreams this year with a Eurpean release and tour in the Autumn.
